Momentum Adventure
left By Aspiro

100% Willing Participants • Brief Essay Required

Momentum by Aspiro, an expedition-style course lasting only a few weeks, is designed to help youth strengthen desires to make positive choices. With an emphasis on emotional growth, respectful relationships, and increased self-efficacy, Momentum enrolls adolescents wanting to reconnect with values developed in other emotional growth settings, or adolescents simply desiring an intensive personal growth experience.

Program curriculum - in the form of discussion, readings, reflection activities, and journaling assignments - is designed to help students evaluate their current course, reflect on existing values, and strengthen desires to make choices that will positively affect themselves and others.

Momentum 2011

The 2011 Momentum course will guide participants through Southern Peru. Teaming with the Heart Walk Foundation, Momentum participants will work alongside Peruvians on community development projects. Aside from offering humanitarian service, participants will learn about Peruvian culture and heritage as they visit important archeological ruins, hike through beautiful terrain, and share meals with Peruvian families.

Michael Escalante, who has worked with Aspiro since its birth in 2006, will lead the 2011 Momentum expedition. Michael and his wife Jodi began collaboration with the Heart Walk Foundation in 2009, and in 2010 they spent a few weeks in Peru building an elementary school with a group of boarding school students. The youth had a wonderful experience and Michael is excited to take Momentum participants on a similar expedition. Michael states that "meaningful service has an unparalleled ability to prompt valuable discussion and reflection. The choice to view others and ourselves with love and respectis at the heart of the Aspiro programs. What better way to facilitate respect, love, and wise decision making than by serving needy and grateful people."

Dates: July 22 - August 7, 2011
Momentum by Aspiro enrolls willing and capable participants, ages 13-17 (coed). All enrolling participants will be required to speak directly with Michael Escalante during the admissions process.
